The internally flawless one-carat diamond – the benchmark for diamonds
An internally flawless one-carat diamond has always been synonymous with lasting value. Its unique characteristics and rarity in nature make it the "world's oldest movable property". Every woman dreams of wearing it as a solitaire in fine jewellery.
An internally flawless one-carat diamond as an investment
An investment diamond should exhibit a perfect brilliant cut. Its qualitative and technical characteristics must be documented in an internationally recognised certificate (GIA). The worldwide prestige of a diamond certificate is of great importance for determining the value of a diamond.

You should know: Diamonds require experience and expertise
Experience and professional expertise are of the highest priority in the world of diamonds. Even the smallest, barely perceivable nuances have a major influence on the price as well as the resale potential of a diamond. Diamonds should therefore only be purchased from specialists with many years of experience in this specific line of work.
Investing in top quality is a tried and true method for successfully investing in tangible assets. In order to optimise the intrinsic value of a diamond, we at DIAMONDAS offer investment diamonds exclusively in the highest quality categories against the backdrop of our decades of experience:
- internally flawless diamonds
- in the brightest colours
- in excellent cuts
- with the best certificate (GIA)
- only in the desired sizes
All of the investment diamonds we offer have a certificate exclusively from the most internationally renowned testing institute for diamonds, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), an independent institute. Diamond professionals around the entire world rely on these evaluations. No other certificate comes close to having the same importance as one from the GIA. Today the price of a diamond is determined by its certificate.
In order to identify the diamond with its GIA certificate, the respective certificate number and the GIA logo are laser inscribed directly on the diamond.
The certificate not only plays an important role for the purchase but is just as important for the resale. Optimal prices can be obtained for the resale of investment diamonds on the most important demand markets with the undisputed reputation of GIA certificates.
Naturally every gemstone supplied by DIAMONDAS is accompanied by a confirmation with a handwritten signature that the diamond comes from ethical sources and compliances fully with the directives of the European Community and corresponding UN regulations.
Diamonds as an investment
An investment in diamonds is made on a purely physical basis, i.e. when you buy a diamond as an investment you also acquire it physically. Diamonds are considered the most movable property with the highest value concentration ("store of value"): The value of a top-quality internally flawless five-carat diamond (1 carat = 0.2 grams), for example, has the same value as approximately 10 kilograms of gold. The price of diamonds has shown growth in the last twenty-five years. The forecasts for the coming years assume that diamond prices will be rising for a long time due to a rising demand from Asian countries in particular together with stagnating output.
Investment diamonds should have a brilliant cut, which is a classic round cut with 56 facets. It is the most widespread cut, with over 96% of all diamonds cut in this style.
DIAMONDAS customers state that they create diamond portfolios amounting to approximately 5% of their total assets. Their investment horizon is geared toward the long term, often even in respect to asset protection for future generations.

Is it possible to purchase diamonds anonymously ("over-the-counter transactions")?
Precious metals are not the only option when it comes to an anonymous purchase of tangible assets for asset protection. DIAMONDAS also offers investment diamonds as what are known as "over-the-counter transactions" for anonymous purchase up to the legal limit of EUR 9,999 in Germany and Austria.

Investment diamonds and the US dollar
When making an investment in diamonds it is to be taken into account that diamonds are generally traded in US dollars, similarly to all precious metals and commodities. In this respect the currency parity between the euro and the US dollar is also relevant for the pricing of investment diamonds.
For this reason DIAMONDS adjusts its online price to the current exchange rate every 10 minutes. An invoice is created on the basis of the US dollar exchange rate at the time the order was placed.
The value of a diamond
It has become generally accepted internationally that the value of a diamond is primarily determined on the basis of the 4 Cs:
These and other qualitative and quantitative characteristics determining the price of a diamond must be documented in a certificate. The crucial factor is who issues this certificate. The fundamental requirement is long-term technical expertise and the greatest care in the determination of quality. In addition to the 4Cs, the international reputation of the diamond testing laboratory is now another important criterion determining the value of a diamond. That is why a 5th C (certificate) is mentioned when determining the value of a diamond these days.
Reselling investment diamonds
Any investment is only as good as its resale potential. This applies for an investment in diamonds in particular. At DIAMONDAS the purchase of diamonds is not a one-way street.
We view ourselves first and foremost as a seller with the responsibility to support you in obtaining an optimal selling price for any diamonds purchased from us in the event that you plan to resell them. Depending on the current market situation we will proceed as follows:
- DIAMONDAS will buy these diamonds back and add them to its stock or
- We will offer them to our domestic and foreign customers or
- We will sell your diamonds for you on the worldwide diamonds markets.
This requires an international network in the world of diamonds, which DIAMONDAS and its affiliated companies have maintained for more than 30 years.
We will make corresponding offers and suggestions to you about determining the selling price depending on the current diamond prices on the basis of the currency parity to the US dollar at that time. International auction houses such as Sotheby's, Christie's and others also offer the option to put even unmounted diamonds up for sale. We are convinced that in the near future there will already be online platforms directly connecting buyers and sellers of investment diamonds worldwide as there already are for cars, art and clocks. There it will also be very advantageous to possess the world's most prestigious diamond certificate from the GIA.
Fashioning internally flawless one-carat diamonds into jewellery?
We are often asked whether investment diamonds can also be fashioned into jewellery. This is no problem at all if the jewellery is fashioned professionally by a trustworthy jeweller. A diamond that is treated properly and handled with care will retain its full value if it is professionally mounted in a ring or other piece of jewellery. Here we have a tip for you about this.
